Shell of many hues

Gray Witchkiller, part 8

Another step towards the destination and another obstacle stood in front of Gray mage. A transparent wall made out of many different Colors, swirling and moving in different patterns. Just behind it, there were another 4 Golden Shields, ready to shoot their gunspears at him. Hoping that Wreath of Heath would be able to divert another few attacks, he put his hand into the barrier.
The golden shields looked happy, expecting his hand to be blended by the wall the moment he touched it. Instead, a Gray goo started to drip from it. He was draining it faster than it could activate. And so, he put his other hand into it and started tearing it apart like a membrane. A few of the shots flew by him, missing only thanks to his little talisman.
One of the guards tried to run, but like his friends, he was dead before he could do much, holes in his torso where spells pierced him.
Shells of many hues are multi-Colored protective barriers preventing anyone unwanted from entering the areas they protect at risk of death. The shells can be attuned to a single person or multiple people, or they can detect who the original owner would want to let inside the protected area. For additional protection, those who are attuned can enter and leave the protected area at any time they want. Similarly, attacks can come out from the inside of the barrier but not pierce inside of it.

Structure of the barrier

Shell consists of many different layers of pure Colors intertwined with each other in such a way that they block anything coming from the outside. The most common Colors used in the creation of one of such shells are Black, thanks to both of its traits, the negative one weakening any attack and the positive one strengthening the durability of the barrier. Similarly, Red by itself is often used for the base of the shell and repeats every few layers so that the other layers stick to it, and the negative property of Yellow tends to be put on the layers farthest away from the Red ones (but underneath the next Red one).

Types of barriers

Depending on the Colors used to create one, shells can come with various effects. There are simple ones that function like normal, see-through walls. There are ones that are non-transparent on one side. There are ones capable of returning any force that was enacted on them and countering or ricocheting attacks. There are ones that react to being attacked by attacking anyone in the vicinity and ones that saw through anything that touches them.
