Ascetic Traditions

The Ascetic Traditions are dedicated to understanding the mysteries of the Undying Emperor. Through a lifetime of reflection and contemplation the Ascetics seek to come closer to the Being of the Emperor. Most Ascetics are members of monastic traditions who dedicate their lives to holy ritual and the study of the nature of life and death. These monks follow the Way of the Long Death or Way of Mercy at remote monasteries spread throughout the Imperium. Others find the Emperor through personal experience. The so-called Chosen Ones dedicate their lives and souls to the Emperor, and are warlocks of the Pact of the Undying Emperor. The Chosen have no formal organization or places of reflection; they follow no set path and have no standardized beliefs. Yet their undeniable connection to the Emperor ensures that none in the Imperium will interfere with their way of life, not even the Inquisition.
