The Vile Bog
Geography
The Vile Bog is the largest controlled area in all of Agodale. The land consists of freshwater wetland of soft, spongy ground consisting mainly of partially decayed plant matter called peat. The bog has a cool climate. The area is filled with dense trees and marshlands. Three natural bodies of water exists within the region.(Gravebook Lagoon, The Lake of Lost Souls, and Petorham Bay.) For the majority of the country it is flat lands filled with wetlands and thickets if trees, but the only large rocky and mountainous area is directly west of Almore the capital. These mountains were created by the group of mages under Vraxis command as a means to build a defense against potential invasions.
Fauna & Flora
Within the bog an abundance of fish and turtles as well as a variety of wading birds and waterfowl. In addition, raccoons, opossums, muskrats, beavers, nutria, swamp rabbits and alligators can also be found here.
For Flora that exists with the bog there is a huge mixture of medicinal plants as well as many toxic and poisonous plants. These make travel for outsiders a bit tricky. Not nearly to the degree of The Noxious Jungle but it is still a difficult area to travel to outsiders.
Natural Resources
An extensive amount of peat moss hangs from the trees all through out the bog. This peat moss is then used to make coal which fuels a massive amount of the country and is the most physical resource the bog has.
History
The original reason the first Sovereign settled his people within the bog was a strong sense of magic the seeped through the ground and into the surrounding area. Being incredibly magically inclined the initial settlers of the bog made this area there home hoping to learn more of the magic that flowed through the ground here. The original Vilians were very in touch with the land they live in and attempted to live in harmony with the land in order to gain knowledge form the land. However under Vraxis rule the lifestyle has changed entirely. Instead of living with the land Vraxis leeches off the land taking whatever he can from it. Vraxis has many mages working around the clock in attempt to harvest the energy from the land to fuel whatever tools he wants. On top of that he has offered massive rewards to anyone who can figure out the source of the magic within the land. Despite their best efforts the magic in the land has been slowly slipping away, unable to maintain it's presence.
Tourism
Very few individuals tend to visit the bog. Those who make their way here from various corners of the world tend to to never leave. Whether it is of their own choice or not is often debated.
