Session 5: A Treacherous Journey Report

General Summary

The party travels deeper into the Howling Plains and, and in spite of Seraphina's expertise in navigating through the lands, they encounter a tribe of Lizardfolk, the Iron Claw, who demand the party turn over all their weapons and armor. In an effort to avoid confrontation, the party manages to negotiate with the Iron Claw. They learn that the Lizardfolk are at war with a tribe of Orcs, the Hawk's Talons, that are close to wiping them out. The party then offers to assist with negotiations, in return for being let go without a fight. The party seeks out the Hawk's Talons' while the Iron Claw keep Professor Jean Marchalle and Sylva Snow as hostages. Ode acts as the spokesman and approaches the Hawk's Talons' matriarch, Mugarrah. He convinces her to entreat the Warchief on their behalf and with some careful conversation, they got the Warchief to agree to enter into negotiations. 
While Gloria ran to fetch the Lizardfolk, Ode forms a bond with Mugarrah, seeking her advice as he struggles with his identity. He reveals his dark past to her, and she encourages him to embrace his Orcish side and forgive himself for his past. During negotiations the team helped to keep things calm - Seraphina, Ode, and Daze with their words and Gloria by devising a mild sedative and slipping it into the drinks for the night. Due to their efforts, the clans were able to resolve the situation peacefully. The Iron Claw tribe, to express their gratitude, offered to escort the team to their next destination. They also informed Daze of a temple to Acionna nearby that she could visit to gain insight into her brother's situation.
