The Inquisitorial Order
The Inquisitorial Order are the elite peacekeeping force of Kaisu. A cut above the rank and file guards and patrolmen, Inquisitors are part scientists, part warriors. They investigate crimes, hunt criminals, and execute justice. Reporting only The Council, the Inquisitors are permitted to use any means necessary in the path of their duty. Though they are bastions of justice, this immunity from judgement often permits or even encourages the use of extreme measures, and more often than not, Inquisitors are met with a mixture of reverence and fear.
Unlike the city guards, the Inquisitors do not recruit for raw fighting force, alone. They seek applicants from a multitude of backgrounds, scientists, mages, and warriors all find a place among their ranks. Recruits are then submitted to two years of intensive training where they are taught the basics of combat and investigation before specializing in a particular field. Upon graduation, the new Inquisitors are formulated into teams to best utilize their skills. Most Inquisitors work with one team for the entirety of their employ.
Structure
The Inquisitorial Order technically report to The Council. In fact, however, for most Inquisitors, the end all-be all of law is the High Inquisitor, who oversees the organization and manages the day to day. It is the High Inquisitor that meets with the Council directly and it is he who determines what does and does not fall under the purview of the Inquisitorial Order. Below him are Lieutenants, each whom oversee the work of four teams. These teams do the actual legwork and are free to manage themselves as they see fit. Ranging from three to five members, the teams each have their own power dynamics, rather than a set hierarchy.
Public Agenda
The Inquisitorial Order was created to promote justice and order in Kaisu. They are charged with finding the truth of the matter and dispatching justice. They are permitted any means in their task and are more or less above the law.
