Harvest (Elysian)

The harvest festival has a unique importance to The Elysian Federation, given its relationship to the Plane of Earth and the political status of the Earth Genasi within its culture. The earth of Aiaos and the bounties thereof are seen as the gift of Elysium and a measure of the genasi’s favour and right to rule.
The festival takes place at the end of Earth 2, when the bulk of the major harvests will have been gathered in, and lasts for three days.
Harvest Eve is a day of rest for the field workers, and by extension for everyone else in the Federation. It is rarely marked by major celebrations.
Harvest itself is a grand, communal celebration, with feasts prepared by each village, neighbourhood or household – depending on social stratum – traditionally using the surplus of the most successful produce of the year. Drinking is also traditional, as is dancing.
Harvest Fall is a less riotous event, and the traditional venue for the harvest games, contests of skill, strength and endurance in which people from all walks of life compete to prove – more often than not – their ability to function while substantially hungover.
