Mount Aelian

Located in what is now northern-central Berngaard, Mount Aelian came to prominence as the home of several contemplative, later militant orders of mystic in the days of the Regime. Rising to power as the Aelianov Dynasty in the time of the Mage Sovereigns, these orders brought the mountain to the centre of political life in the north.
The mountain stands alone, a part of no greater range. The long ridge of its summit stands over 20,000 ft above the surrounding plains, ringed with a broad, natural terrace known as the belt. Below the belt, the skirts of the mountain fall sharply in the east and more gradually in the north and south, while the western face has a long, shallow slope split by the steep-sided valley known as the Bay of Osvar. The warm, northern slopes are heavily wooded, with many miles of forested hills extending away towards ther Goblin Bluffs. The southern slopes are cooler and sparsely wooded, descending to the central plain of Berngaard. The powerful cascade of the Paragon Falls descend the eastern face from the Belt to the mining town of Yelmsgrad, while the River Aelian rises from three springs in the Bay and flows through and under the bustling metropolis of Osvar.
