Old Count

The Old Count was originally the calendar of the Regime, and was spread across the dome by the Regime's expansionist policies, and is still the basis for many successor calendars. It is itself based on the Draconic Reckoning. Like its predecessor, it has twelve months of 30 days each, but with seven regular intercalaries and one five-yearly leap day to match the calendar to the solar year. It also uses the sidereal precession to divide long periods of time into 'rounds' of 237 years.   The Old Count is used in its original form by the High Elves, and notionally by the Wood Elves, although the latter take little interest in arbitrary calendrical dates. The Drow use a form of the Old Count, but replace the sidereal count with the 343 year geological long count.   Annual numbering in the Old Count begins with the Foundation of the Regime. Dates are written by sidereal cycle and year, e..g R12.106, with events predating the Regime referenced with a reversed count (e.g. A01.151.)   (Fiveyear Day) – additional intercalary day inserted every five years.
