The 2nd layer of the Nine Hells breaks through into the Prime Material Plane.

During the 6th year a tear in realmspace appears just outside Effadorei, this is noted by the local clerics and sages at the time to be harmless and will close with enough arcane practitioners making it a dispelling focus of the region. Unfortunately this tear was well disguised by the beings on the other side; Fiends from the second layer of the Nine Hells began to make their way through, slowly at first but gradually increasing over time. By the time the Elves had realized what it was, the tear had grown so much it was allowing tens of Fiends through at once, causing widespread chaos and panic within the Dominion.   A large scale battle took place, one for the ages to remember, within Effadorei. Clerics, Mages, Paladins, Sorcerers, Wizards all took the battlefield and after weeks of battling the Fiends and focusing their arcana, the tear was eventually closed for good. However this made sure that the huge number of devilish beings were trapped upon the Prime Material side of the portal.
