The Hell Fires

The land now known as "Den Turuhm" suffers immense destruction due to forest fires.

An incredibly hot few years previous had left the DoL in a very dry and droughted situation, the southern region of the Dominion reaching temperatures so high in fact that the trees began catching alight. These fires are, at first, not realized by the Theocracy; the fires spread and the land scars.   The town of Nythnlona is first to respond to these fires, many wards are put into place to protect the town and surrounding forests however not much can be done until the fires disperse, knowing that if they reach the 'Familiar Pond Forest', they would be able to spread to Nilanalume via Alyfethas.   Panic spreads as quickly as the fires and worship to Mielikki (the Elven goddess of nature) increases drastically. In doing so, the goddess herself takes her humanoid form and comes down to the realm to walk amongst the Elves. In the following few days, Mielikki extinguishes the fires with the help of the Elven race, utilizing their mages and even common folk with minor inherent magical abilities. After the fires are extinguished  the goddess asks the Elves to give something back to Mother Nature after receiving her help. The Elves decide on allowing the region now known as "Den Turuhm" to be Mielikki's banishing grounds.   These grounds have salted earth and allow nothing of mortal vegetation to grow meaning the only way to grow crops is by magical means. On top of this, it is where Mielikki sends the souls of the evil creatures she slays in her hunt after death meaning there are many Spirit Aberrations within this land, even to date.
