Rift Trees

For every plane of existence in the world of Aither, there is a Rift Tree, connecting it to the central Material Plane. It is said that Pateras created the trees as bridges from realm to realm, using their roots to keep all of his creations linked, preventing them from simply drifting in the endless sea of night that is the Astral Plane.
Because of the wrath of Pateras, when he left Aither, he was unable to completely link all the realms, meaning that there is no way of access the Astral Plane currently, nor a Rift Tree that could link the Material Plane to the estranged plane of the The Nichteil. Despite this, there are enough of these trees to hold all the realms together, allowing them to stem from the central Material Plane.
Rift Trees, although difficult to use, can be accessed by mortals, specifically druids that are able to manipulate them into opening their portals. Each Rift Tree can teleport the user to the realm that it is linked to, as well as teleport them to any of the other Rift Trees; however, this can only be done if the user knows the runes written on the other tree. The trees themselves are all unique from each other, being made from differing types of wood and having different colour leaves. What is similar about them is their size, and their seemingly endless life, feeding of The Script itself to endure.
