The Halls of Vuldrunn

Despite being a godless people, the Valkans believe very much in the might and power of their ancestors, as well earning their place in death. Unlike many others, who wish for eternal peace after their death, resting within the realms of Elysium, the Valkans hope for eternal battle, to face those that others call Gods and bring them to their knees, making them pay for all their sins. This is also why the Valkans despise magic, believing that it is a tool for the divine; a tool that they will not use. They believe in using their own might and only their own might.   The Halls of Vuldrunn are considered to be the Valkan's afterlife, where they prepare to return one day for the greatest battle in Aither: Enderfall. They believe that, when they fall in battle, the souls of their ancestors, whose sheer might after death was enough to create The Halls in the first place, will deliver them, stealing them from the grasp of The Harbingers of the Raven Queen. This is why all Valkans believe in death from battle, believing that any other death will result in either an afterlife spent in the Underworld or Elysium. Because of this belief, all who can fight will fight.    Not much is known about The Halls themselves, with it being a belief that is exclusively believed by the Valkans, with them being one of the only godless society. What is known is that, according to the Valkans, the very first Valkan King, unsatisfied with the options presented by the afterlife, decided that he would forge his own way, through the might of his own soul, creating the Halls to replicate his own halls, as well as the halls of the other Kings that follow him. Many believe the Valkans to be mad in their beliefs, thinking it impossible to have an alternate to the afterlives that have been provided for them by the gods.

Cultural Reception

It is a religious ideal believed heavily in The Valkan Isle, being ingrained deeply into their culture. Outside of the Isles, no one else worships this religion, as all others have their cultures weaved in with the Gods. Most do not understand the concept of the Halls, with only the more well educated on the main land of The Continent even being aware of it. Unfortunately for all, there has been no proof or disproof concerning the Halls, as those who enter, in theory, will not want to return.

In Literature

Many great proses and tales have been written about Valkan heroes. Most of these proses involve the redemption of a Valkan, who, once again, earns their place amongst their forefathers. Much like everything else involving the Halls of Vuldrunn, only the Valkans know and spread these proses, with them being in the Valkan's native tongue.
