The Old Man of Storr

The Old Man of Storr is a 164ft basalt column located in the southern portion of the mountain range known as The Spine. The Old Man resembles the weathered face of an elderly gentlemen. Legend has it that the Old Man is head of an ancient Rock Giant who fell asleep and eventually died during the early days of the forming of Albanoria  The Old Man is part of an area called The Sanctuary located at the base of The Storr, a peak within The Spine mountain range.

Geography

The Old Man of Storr is a large eroded basalt column. The column formed over centuries of erosion and landslips. The pinnacle is a prominent feature of The Sanctuary. This is an area of ragged peaks, rock formations, karst formations and rough ground. The area also has a number of caves and caverns.

Fauna & Flora

The Old Man of Storr has little woodland and only low plants due to the rocky geography and windy conditions. Otherwise the area is home to typical sub-tundra animal life.   Typical temperate, sub-tundra animals include:
