Rhiann, the Steadfast

"Which is stronger—the proud Golden Eagle, who hunts alone, or the wolfpack, who live or die together?"   —Domelch, Merlin of Strathmorne
As a cousin to Queen Acha of Strathmorne, Rhiann has borne the burden of the tenuous truce between her homeland and Dalriath on her shoulders since she was married. Raised with a druidic tutor and a great respect for the wild places of Albion, her wisdom and patience have nevertheless earned her the respect of many a disciple of the Saints. Likewise, her watchful eye and steady hand were ever beside Eramon's, be it on the hunt, on the battlefield, or in the feasting-hall. Together, they led the hosts of Dalriath to many a victory, and some believed that at last a new High King and Queen would be crowned at the great rock of Dun Fomorh. But alas, such golden days came and went. Tragedy befell three of Rhiann's four children; she herself nearly died when a horse flung her from the saddle, and neither broken leg nor broken heart would heal completely. As her husband became obsessed with ridding Dalriath of its curse, Rhiann took up the slack reins of the kingship, doing her best to prepare her young son Malcolm for the day he would come of age. Whenever she can, Rhiann still finds respite from her many duties in long rides through the wilderness—often, she has been seen at dusk in the company of Taliesin, Merlin of Dalriath. Some say that she seeks his wisdom to guide her in unravelling the omens of the land and sky, others say she searches for her lost daughter Morag, and others still say she conspires with him to some dark end...
