Facets of the Bench

In 1927, it becomes clear that there's a problem in one of the courtrooms of Albion's Halls of Justice. Griffin Pelson travels to Whitby, on the Yorkshire, in search of a jet carver to consult on the problem. As an ambulatory wheelchair user, Griffin is used to figuring out how to get around. However, Whitby's hills and attitudes present some particular challenges compared to his usual Trellech.
Annice Matthewman is a jet carver, but she's also at a crossroads in her life, trying to figure out how to make her living in a dying industry that resists women carvers. She's not sure she can actually help Griffin, but she's willing - eventually - to give it a try.
Facets of the Bench is, above all, a love letter to the love of place, both in Whitby and Trellech.
