Personal history
Erky is a ex-inventor from Norford. Originally from The Karstmore, Erky worked in competition with the area's best inventor, Seebo Horcusporcus. Both were in the business of developing firearms from old concordian texts which had been salvaged from before The Confluence. In order to get the edge on his competitor, Erky stole a number of research notes and supplies and fled his home. Passing through Wesdale, he purchased a Ring of Mind Shielding to better aid his escape and eventually made his way to Norford, where he settled down and continued his work.
During this time, he married a fish merchant named Lorilla. The pair had a child they named Ella and built a comfortable life together. It wasn't long however before on a trip to procure more blackpowder he was met by an assassin from The Shadowmaster, under contract from Seebo, who put an end to the gnome's life. In his final moments, he chose to capture his soul within the ring, where he hopes it will one day reach Lorilla's finger and the two can be together again. The ring was eventually sold to Conservator Archibald Stoutclaw in Wesdale, where it remained until purchased.
Erky is very excitable and infinitely curious. Though he might come across as childish or highly emotive at first, he is deceptively intelligent and devoted to returning to his wife. curiositycriticism
