  • 1st-Level (4 slots): absorb elements, shield (at will), silvery barbs.
  • 2nd-Level (3 slots): borrowed knowledge, detect thoughts, kinetic jaunt, misty step (at will), vortex warp, wither and bloom.
  • 3rd-Level (3 slots): counterspell, dispel magic, fly, haste (once per day without a spell slot), lightning bolt, sending, slow (once per day without a spell slot).

  • 7th-Level (2 slots): plane shift, teleport.

  • 9th-Level (1 slot): time ravage, time stop.
Staff of Chronurgy. The staff has 10 charges. It regains 1D6+4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a D20. On a 1, the staff loses its properties and becomes a nonmagical Quarterstaff. You can use an action to expend one or more of the staff's charges to cast one of the follow spells from it (spell save DC 20):
  • gift of alacrity (1 charge).
  • augury, fortune's favour (2 charges).
  • haste, slow (3 charges).
  • divination (4 charges).
  • legend lore, temporal shunt (5 charges).
Corellon's Devotee. Korfel can cast Encode Thoughts and Mending with this trait, requiring no material components. Intelligence is his spellcasting modifier for these spells.   Corellon's Votary (1/Day). Korfel can cast Enhance Ability with this trait, requiring no material components. Charisma is his spellcasting modifier for this spell.   Corellon's Disciple (1/Day). Korfel can cast Legend Lore using this trait, requiring no material components. The information her gleams from this spell comes to him in the form of visions and sounds which he can share with another creature by placing their hand on his shoulder when he cast this spell. Intelligence is his spellcasting modifier for this spell.

Special Equipment. Korfel wears elven chain, an amulet of nondetection, and carries a staff of chronurgy and an enduring spellbook containing every wizard spell (except wish). He also wears a ring of disguise and carries primodial's bane, but can only be attuned to one or the other.   Arcane Abeyance (1/short rest). When Korfel casts a spell using a spell slot of 4th level or lower, he can condense the spell's magic into a mote. The spell is frozen in time at the moment of casting and held within a gray bead for 1 hour. This bead is a tiny object with AC 15 and 1 hit point, and it is immune to poison and psychic damage. When the duration ends, or if the bead is destroyed, it vanishes in a flash of light, and the spell is lost. A creature holding the bead can use its action to release the spell within, whereupon the bead disappears. The spell has either a +12 to hit or spell save DC 20, and the spell treats the creature who released it as the cast for all other purposes.   Arcane Recovery (1/Day). During a short rest, Korfel regain up to 10 levels of spell slots, none of the slots can be 6th level or higher.   Fey Ancestry. Korfel has advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put him to sleep.   Legendary Resistance (1/Day). If Korfel is holding the Staff of Chronurgy and fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.   Magic Resistance. Korfel has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.   Ring of Disguise. While attuned to the ring, Korfel changes his appearance to appear half-elven.   Temporal Awareness. Korfel adds his intelligence modifiers to your initiative rolls.

Actions

Primodial's Bane. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 1D6+3 piercing damage. If the target is an elemental, the creature takes an extra 2D6 piercing damage and must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of the wielder for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to this effect for the next 24 hours. For the Purpose of this weapon, "elemental" refers to any creature with the elemental type.   Momentary Stasis (6/Day). Korfel magically forces a Large or smaller creature he can see within 60 feet of you to make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. Unless the saving throw is a success, the creature is encased in a field of magical energy until the end of your next turn or until the creature takes any damage. While encased in this way, the creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0.     BONUS ACTIONS   Corellon's Votary (6/Day). Korfel gains one Divine Inspiration die, a D6. Once within the next 10 minutes, he can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check or attack roll. Korfel can wait until after it rolls the D20 before deciding to use the Divine Inspiration die, but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost. Korfel can have only one Divine Inspiration die at a time.

Reactions

Chronal Shift (2/Day). After Korfel or a creature he can see within 30 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, he can use his reaction to force the creature to reroll. Korfel makes this decision after he see whether the roll succeeds or fails. The target must use the result of the second roll.   Convergent Future. When Korfel or a creature he can see within 60 feet of him makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, he can use his reaction to ignore the die roll and decide whether the number rolled is the minimum needed to succeed or one less than that number (his choice). When he use this feature, he gains one level of exhaustion. Only by finishing a long rest can you remove a level of exhaustion gained in this way.

Personal history

Korfel was once a young boy, who grew up with his mother and father in Wesdale. There, he was raised comfortably by his mother and father, who worked as local politicians. His life was simple growing up and he enjoyed this lifestyle.   In the early months of his 21st year, he joined the mage college in the city, known as The Cantamen School of Magics. There he studied the school of transmutation, eventually graduating after years of study. He eventually went on to teach at the school for a number of years, become an accomplished mage in the process.   Ten years later, news reached him about a growing war between the people of Concordia and creatures of elemental power from other worlds and it was not long before he began to feel the spread of this conflict. Korfel, along with all the people of Wesdale, were assaulted from the ocean and mountains around them in various battles. These resulted in Korfel's parents deciding to flee the city with many of its people, but not before heavy causalities were sustained.   During the time of The Confluence, the mages of Cantamen were called upon to help combat the growing threat. As a senior teacher, Korfel lead a group of wizards and sorcerers into battle against various powerful foes. One such enemy was the leader of the fire elementals, the effreeti Sultan, Marrake. In the ensuing battle, many of Korfel's collogues and students were killed and, though he was not able to defeat the genie, he managed to successful lock him away inside a old oil lamp using some experimental magic he had been researching. He proceeded to hide the lantern deep in The Quassir Belt to the north, hoping no one would ever find it and the genie would be locked away forever.   Eventually, the events of The Confluence came to their close, but not before Korfel had felt the heavy weight of what had happened to his home and his people in the process. He and his family left westwards to the elves' ancestral home in The Elderwood. He spent the next 135 years here building a new life for himself, in the process developing his proficiency in the arcane arts as well as his devotion to Corellon, the Arch Heart (like many of his people). During this time however, his feelings of distain and contempt towards the events which shaped his formative years never wavered. He began to research possible ways to undo what had been done his people, feeling a potential to aid them through his still-developing magic.   At 166 years of age, Korfel came to the conclusion his research could not go further with the resources available to him from what remained of his people. Having convinced the elvish government to approve his plans, he left The Elderwood and made his way to his birth home of Wesdale to see what remained of it. There he found a city, not as great as it once stood, but slowly recovering from the events which had completely altered its course. Realising none alive had knowledge of the time before The Confluence or of the elves, he decided to hide his racial identity from those around him in order to maintain a status quo, for the time being.   Korfel enacted his plan, striking a deal with the new Wesdale government to repurpose the still-ruined School of Magics as a new place for arcane study. He established Faerndaar, the Phrontistery of Arcana over the next two years and began to teach as well as continue his research. Over the next 363 years, he grew the school to encompass more and more students, teachers and disciplines, eventually stepping back from teaching completely and setting up his guild known as 'The Cloaks' from high-ranking teaching staff and past students.   Instilled with a feeling of responsibility to his people from the potential he had now realised after hundreds of years of study into the newly discovered discipline of Chronurgy, Korfel spends his days trying to discover a way to right the misdeeds which shook the continent and more specifically the elves all those years ago.
