Stonefall Mine

Purpose / Function

The Stonefall mines are a labyrinth of interconnecting tunnels with stretch deep under the Ersatz Mountains. The two resources the mine produces are iron and stone.

Sensory & Appearance

The tunnels are, usually, 8 feet tall and 5-10 feet wide, although this does vary. Without the use of lanterns, the they are pitch black. The deeper you go into the mines the more stangnant and dust-filled the air becomes, making it difficult to breakth sometimes, and hotter the temprature becomes. Sound echos around the tunnel system too, making it a very loud environment to work in.

Hazards & Traps

Cave-ins are always a risk in the mine and the workers take great care to support the tunnels they create. Should these supporting structures fail, the risk of a cave-in increases dramatically.

Alterations

In recently history, the iron in the mine has begun to dry up which has caused the people of Stonefall to dig even deeper into the mountains.

Architecture

The mine is consists of a system of deep, underground tunnels. They are supported by large wooden beams set every 10 feet on the roof and the walls. The tunnels occasionally open out into large chambers, where iron deposits have been extracted, before continuing on into the mountain.   The tunnels, are formed in three distinct layers with one descending tunnel connecting them all.   Each of the tunnels can be illuminated by oil lamps which are set out periodically throughout the mine. They are extinguished when they are not in use to reduce the cost of oil.
