Ciúnas
Those under order of Ciúnas (Common trans. "Silence") are sworn to a blood oath beneath a red sunrise, a ritual which bonds their life force to their promise and quite literally demands the keeping of any secret when Ciúnas is invoked. Only those to whom the blood oath is initially sworn may lift the order and release a soul of Anima from its blood burden.
Affected Groups
Traditionally Ciúnas is a condition that affects soldiers, scholars, expeditioners, and those of royal blood who may be genetically bound to Ciúnas upon the time of their birth. Historically, however, it is interesting to note that a number of pivotal cases of Ciúnas have been revealed in the Great Houses of Anima - a fact which is perhaps unsurprising when one considers how deep the roots of the Great Houses reach into Anima's soil.
Hosts & Carriers
Because of the immense preternatural load requisite to perform the Order of Ciúnas, the ritual is typically only performed by high practitioners of Ecclesia Cridhe and Ecclesia Organica, with the oath itself traditionally being sworn to a Pèlerine, Racine, and in some rare cases, Phiala have been the subject of this rite as well.
Cultural Reception
Ciúnas is one of Anima's oldest and most respected laws, considered by many to be the reason for the longstanding civil peace amongst the sister realms. Because of the secrecy under which the ritual is conducted and the preternatural forces at work when the oath is made it is nearly impossible to know who is under its affects until the Ciúnas is lifted or upon the time of their deaths, at which point the holder of their bond is preternaturally bound to reveal it to at least one other soul.
