Soul of the Ocean

Discovered within the Whirl, the Soul of the Ocean is an immensely powerful artifact that made waves in the world. It would kickstart the beginning of what would become the various Underwater Kingdoms of Aldebaran, a vast and allied empire of kingdoms that ruled the seas of the world.

Capabilities

The main thing that everyone knows about the Soul of the Ocean is that it is capable of turning any living corporeal creature into an Oshalus Creature. Such a creature becomes a resident of the ocean, their anatomy shifted to become more aquatic. They gain the ability to breathe underwater, gain webbed toes and hands, and their flesh more becomes more oily.
Rumors state that the artifact can control the tides of the oceans (though it is possible this is confused with the Cometstaff), become an incredibly powerful weapon, fuel ancient magics of a lost art, and influence leviathans. Whether these rumors are true is hard to say though, for only the highest of nobility are allowed to handle the artifact.

Location

The Soul of the Ocean is thought to reside in the Hypliboreas Kingdom, under the surveyance of the Boralis Royal Family.

Depiction

The artifact is often portrayed as a dark blue see through sphere, roiling radiant water swirling within. Other times it is depicted as a trident, the weapon of waves. A powerful object of rulership and command.
