Onteron
Acropolis of Love
Onteron is the fortress estate of Queen Chinmayi of Hathor. This citadel is built on the rocky cliffs of northwestern Hathor, where the nation comes closest to its sister nation of Hydossia. Despite its seaside location the estate is completely inaccessible by sea, due to the cliffs and rocky shores creating turbulent waters throughout the region.
Onteron is the technical capital of Hathor. All state business if officially done here. The truth, however, is during most of the year the estate stands largely empty. A large staff of servants reside in Onteron year-round to maintain the estate, along with a small garrison of guards. Through the spring, summer and autumn months Queen Chinmayi and her court are travelling the realm gathering reports and records. As autumn comes to an end and winter sets in the court returns to Onteron to settle in for the season. It is during these months that the queen's officially study and file their annual finds for final report.
Onteron has the moniker of 'Acropolis of Love,' which many have interpreted to mean wild parties and endless orgies when the queen is in attendance. The are largely only rumors spread by her enemies, with the reality being far more mundane. The queen is a devote Trijan, who by all accounts is a virgin. She is aware that her staff and officials bring lovers and spouses to her estate for the season, and only asks discretion with their private activities. The truth behind the moniker is the fact that Chinmayi invites poets, painters, and other artist from across Ethae, to come Onteron and spend the isolated months of winter in discussion and creative debate. Some of the finest works of art, from across the continent, can find their origin in the winter lockdowns of Onteron. While most may never have heard of the nation of Hathor, or even know Queen Chinmayi's name, they have seen her face in the many paintings and sculptures that have been produced. An endless parade of men, the continent over, have fallen in love with the mysterious Virgin Queen of the art world.
