Session 10: Fireball! Report

General Summary

An acquaintance of Lars De Le Seips by the name of Gretchen Fairbairn arrives one chilly morning. An explosion rocks the street outside the Prestigious Pint, killing 11 in the blast. The group's independent investigation uncovers a Necklace of Fireballs, markings on the roof, and reports of a hooded figure fleeing the scene. The City Watch opens a formal investigation, led by Sayth Cromley and Barnibus Blastwind who question residents of Trollskull Alley. The group is able to leverage their existing ties with the Lords' Alliance and gain Barnibus' trust. He imparts these conclusions of his investigation thus far:

The gnome was running from armed pursuers, of which there were three. The third person who was chasing the gnome isn’t among the dead.
The gnome and his pursuers were moving toward the Prestigious Pint.
Neither the gnome nor his pursuers saw the blast coming.

Later that day, while reporting the found necklace to the Watch, Lars gets himself arrested when he attempts to enchant Barnibus so that the party can keep the evidence. The party visits Renaer Neverember for assistance in freeing Lars. Using Renaer's connections, the party is able to bribe a magistrate into imposing a minimal sentence on Lars; securing his timely release, but leaving him with a criminal record.

This last bit is being slightly retconned (per 11/9 email)

Renaer uses information provided by the party to contact his own sources and informs the party that:

~~The man seen fleeing the scene may have been Urstul Floxin.~~
~~A suspicious character was seen entering Gralhund Villa, and the activity was reported to the City Watch.~~
~~The Watch questioned Lord Gralhund who denied any kind of break in; the word of a lord leaving the Watch with no justification for a warrant, and so no investigation proceeded.~~
