Captain Aegir

Captain Aegir was a giant from the days of Ostoria, when his kind still ruled the world. He sailed the seas as a pirate captain, renowned for his feats and vast treasure. During the uprising of the smallfolk against the giants, however, Aegir suffered the loss of his closest companion Helblindi, who was a champion in the giants' forces. Aegir took the loss hard and retreated to the ocean, at which point his ship, the Sea Devil's Curse, passed out of history. Even after death, though, Aegir's ghost continued to sail the Sea Devil's Curse in search of Fornjot's Fortune, the one treasure that could restore his beloved Helblindi to him.

Captain Aegir was a renowned pirate back when Giants ruled the land that is now the Iyend Republic. He plundered the treasures of the dragons, yuan-ti, and even the mindflayers. However, when Helblindi was killed, he withdrew from the world, single-mindedly bent on gathering every last coin of Fornjot's Fortune from across the planes and using it to revive his lost companion. During this time, he made a deal with a devil to secure a crew capable of helping him achieve his goals.
