Fornjot's Fortune

Fornjot's Fortune is a trove of treasure plundered from some long forgotten or alien civilization when the giant race was still young. Early giant manuscripts note that the treasure held some otherworldly power, but only when gathered in one place.
The trove is incredibly valuable on its own, containing thousands of gold coins of ancient mint, and its historical significance is enough to double its value. However, the true value of the treasure is revealed when all of it is gathered in one place, down to the last coin. Whoever unites the treasure is said to become master of death itself—though specialists in the arcane have long debated and theorized as to what that could actually entail.
The treasure went missing after the fall of the giants' civilization, and for for a long time the only hint as to its whereabouts was the name of a pirate group known as the Barnacle Backs that long ago plundered the ruins of the giants' capital, Voninheim. Eventually, the Antiheroes managed to unite Fornjot's Fortune, allowing the giant ghost Captain Aegir to resurrect his beloved Helblindi, whose soul had long since passed to the afterlife. However, this act once again scattered the treasure.
