King Lorcan Archer (a.k.a. Lorcan Alary)
Physical Description
He's extremely fit and strong, having spent his youth training for combat and having carried his self-care throughout his life.
His skin is naturally rather pale, but he's regularly sun-tanned from working in the castle garden or training with the soldiers of the Hyland Guard.
He always carries a broadsword, and he carries a bow and quiver anytime he's going out that he's not on royal business.
Mental characteristics
He grew up in the small town of
Yarrin, taught in a small public school in the mornings, working on a sheep farm in the afternoons, and trained in archery and swordplay at night. He did well in school, especially with history and languages
Arkannen and
Severen ; he learned to herd animals and to shear and butcher sheep; and he surpassed his teacher
Tarron Wayfold in combat as he graduated and was able to dedicate more time to his training.
When he was a boy (about eight), he started working on his village's sheep farm, which was owned by his aunt
Achillea. As he grew, he became more and more helpful and skilled in his work. When he was twenty, he took his combat training from Tarron and volunteered for
The Hyland Guard. It was during his training for the Guard that he met then-Princess
Valda Alary and they became friends.
After several years, they were married, and Lorcan became king when the prior rulers died.
Personality Characteristics
His main priority, aside from his faith, is his family. He will do almost anything to protect them.
He's extremely good with languages, grasping them sooner than many of those around him. He's also extremely skilled in archery and swordplay. He's also a good singer (baritone).
He's terrible, however, with any sort of musical instrument. He's tried several--lute, piano, ocarina--and he's only had minimal success with wind instruments, no success with any other variety.
Patient, rational, but also quick to act when he knows he has the right answer. He's very good at displaying affection, and he's warm toward everyone. Since he grew up in a small village, he's better at relating to the "common people" than most of the nobles.
Social
He's probably the most skilled of the Alarys at social interaction. He's calm and charismatic, but also warm and inviting. He's an extrovert, unlike most of his family members, so he has a clear ease that they don't.
He spends his free time tending the castle garden.

They met when Lorcan was training for The Hyland Guard. They slowly became friends, and then that friendship blossomed into something more and they were married.

History
Tarron was a Dewin stationed in Yarrin, and he saw potential in Lorcan, who was currently working on his aunt's sheep farm. He began training Lorcan in archery and swordplay, and Tarron became a father-figure to Lorcan (whose real parents had been killed in an epidemic). They parted ways when Lorcan left the village to join The Hyland Guard, but they didn't lose touch and remained good friends. When it came time for Tarron to select a Dewin apprentice, he moved to Avross and the two were reunited.
