Haemund I (HAY-uh-mund)
Human Fighter/9
Human Fighter/9
K. Svalbard (566-596)
Haemund son of Erlend was born on 6 Highbloom, 547 4a in Grimhall. As a second son of a middle-tiered thane he was free to find his own place in the world. He took to weapon skills quickly, and in his rather rebellious youth found himself in the middle of numerous brawls and duels in and around his home town.
After one particularly galling assault, Haemund's uncle prevailed upon him to turn his aggressions where they might do more good than harm; namely, to join him on a raiding voyage in the West. Pehaps unsurprisingly, he found a calling in relieving foreigners of their burdensome riches. Before long he purchased his own longship and arranged his own voyages.
As he began enjoying the fruits of his labors others noticed Haemund's waistline expanding at a noticeable rate. It was around this time (the winter of 564) that he began hearing reports of alarming events occurring in Ostenmark, Jarlshold, and Heortland. Conferring with his brother captains, they elected to take the fight to the goblins who had began ravaging the eastern lands of Svalbard.
After he led the assault that broke The Madness (see timerline), Haemund was elected King of Svalbard in 566. A couple years later he married Lady Lavinia of the Empire.
