The Society

"The Society seemed to come from nowhere, with a mysterious name and a mysterious purpose. They don't seem to be limited by money, but it's uncertain where they get that money from. Certainly not from any country or corporation, for they answer to no one.   They're a scientific community, though, dedicated to the research and creation of...whatever the Defenders are. The Defenders themselves are essentially their military branch, raised from youth as their own personal super soldiers. The circumstances behind the Defenders' creation is surrounded in mysterious, but no doubt it involved human experimentation.   It was about time that the Society was brought down a peg, though. Previously protected by public support, their reputation went sour as a few blunders by their super soldier creations. Thirteen years ago, they shut down and haven't been seen since."
  • Julia Sanders, head of the Anti Hero Movement
  • Structure

There are three main heads of the Society, but only two are public. Elliot Golden is the founder and lead scientist; Henry Stohln is Elliot's right hand man and the head of the Defenders Initiative; and the third, known simply as the Benefactor, is believed to have given Elliot whatever made the Defenders superhuman.   Amp himself found a voice for himself within the organization, eventually coming to overrule Stohln's voice and all but replacing him as Elliot's right hand.   The head of research and development are the sisters, Abike and Mahparah, who create the weapons, armour, and other gadgets that the Defenders use in their field work. After the Society shut down, one of the Defenders hired them to work for his own company.   The head of medicine is Maxwell Stohln, Henry Stohln's brother and the head doctor.   The leader of the Strike is not an official member of the Society, but had enough pull during her stay to instate Amp as the leader of the Defenders after helping to train him and his peers.

    Public Agenda

Other than their creation of the Defenders, the Society has not expressed any sort of agenda. Some hypothesize that the Benefactor has something to do with the Society's true goals.

    Assets

The Society has a seemingly endless supply of money, but they refuse outside donations and investments. The source of this money is unknown. They own two buildings on either side of Lake Geneva, the Genevan Manor and another underground location known simply as the Facility.
