The Defenders of Earth

"At first, the mysterious heroes were well-received. The idea that superpowers were real, seeing their comics come to life before their very eyes, fascinated the public. Fan groups formed around them. They became the talk of every town, every country. Everyone had a favourite Defender.   Their fall was graceless. Rumours go around that a disastrous mission culled their numbers, causing them to shrink away from the spotlight. Not too long after, the Defender's leader, Amp, blundered, causing the lives of many. People could finally see the consequences of superheroes: supervillains. Anti groups gained traction, and the Defenders were shut down, fading into obscurity as quickly as they'd emerged from it."
  • Julia Sanders, head of the Anti Hero Movement
  • Structure

Being a relatively small group (originally twelves members) there isn't much of a hierarchy. The leader of the group is Amp, who co-ordinates the group and gives out orders during missions. Windfall is the unofficial second-in-command, and steps up when Amp is out of commission.   The Defenders used to answer to the Society, who created the Defenders. After their return, however, the Society no longer dictated their actions.

    Public Agenda

The Defenders exist to handle the problems that normal law enforcement cannot. This often means magical disturbances, though they have been known to interfere with more standard political affairs.

    Assets

Before they were shut down, the Defenders were funded by the Society. They had plenty of money, vehicles, weapons, and equipment at their disposal, as well as a full research team. It is unclear where the Society obtained such resources.   A manor off the coast of Lake Geneva also belong to the Society and, by extension, the Defenders. Another facility exists across the lake on an island. Both have been abandoned and have fallen into disrepair since the shut down. After the return, the manor was repaired and put into use to raise the Beta Generation.
