The Grinner
Grinners? Sneaky fucking bastards if you ask me. They walk the world and seemingly don't grow old? If I had my way they'd be lumped in with the Aist Mages and swallowed up by the inquisition. Had one in my town once, lived there for a week and apparently others were more than pleased to accommodate them. Obvious enchantment magic, I kick him out of town and the next day the guardhouse is burned to the ground... - Crownsguard Tistol SeraphyxIn a space of magical overarching authority not many stand neutral and carefree... with the exception of the Grinners. Traveling bards, minstrels, adventurers and storytellers. The Grinners are a people with an oral tradition that travel the lands from the day they are inducted until the day they die as tinkers, adventurers and documenters of renown. It is desperately bad luck to refuse to gift your hospitality to a grinner... especially as there is rumour they are followed by a divine figure, an angel of luck, a god of fate... irregardless, giving respect and politeness to a travelling merchant will give you good luck in turn. It is widely agreed, if you want to know something, ask a grinner...
Structure
There isn't known to be an organised structure to the grinners though there is one known as the queen of the grin who is rumoured to possess the only written text amongst the grinners. Documenting every story, rumour and piece of secret knowledge that they have ever collected.
According to a Grinner, the Queen keeps these stories all in a single pocketbook known as 'The Retelling'. When someone becomes a grinner they receive a single short story from the retelling.
Culture
Grinners are the definition of Nomadic. They are a deeply trusting group who truly believe in the hospitality in the darkest corners of the world. Though many have come into conflict with The Inquisitors and The Crownsguard for their strange behaviours and relaxed use of magic.
