5.9 Ashcon's Downfall
Ashcon after negotiating a deal with his patron to release him from his contract in another 15 years, wakes up in an alleyway to a single task - find out what he can about the Lurker's "colleague" "The Yellow King".
Upon waking, he is greeted by a mysterious stranger, who informs him that he has been unconscious for 2 days. He found him in the middle of the street, with blackened eyes, and he dragged him into the alleyway and monitored him to make sure he was safe.
Upon further pressing by Ashcon, startled by an unfamiliar face, and many threats of violence later, he began to explain that he was a good samaritan that wanted to look after him and meet him. Ashcon, after the interaction making him want to "kill himself" proceeds to bash his head in with a skull. Upon waking, he finds the mysterious stranger with a different demeanor, dragging Ashcon's corpse into the alley, muttering something about "How long did they say it would take him to revive...god this guy is a piece of work. I've heard stories about him but never expected him to be like this." Ashcon, dropping the "play dead" act proceeded to intimidate the stranger into dropping the games, and he reveals his true visage - a demon, possessing a human body. He explains who he really is in the name of "aligned interests" and he just wanted his help.
A fight in the middle of the city districts ensues, and the commoner, critically wounded, escapes via dimension door, but it is not the worst of Ashcon's troubles. Ashcon then resists arrest by the city guards, and falls to his death again at their arrows. Ashcon, vision fading to black, with a fate uncertain.....
