The infamous witch of Ember Of Midnight. A magical prodigy with no equal and an absolute genius of her craft.

Legend has it that Krysanthe played a part in the Coalescence. To what end, those rumours do not say, but the question that inevitably plays upon people's minds is this: did she seek to cause the Coalescence of Materis and Dyrethreed, or stop it?

Physical Description

When I first laid eyes on her, I thought to myself just how faithful the tales were. Why, witch indeed. She certainly looked the part of Materian folk tales, otherworldly in every sense of the word.

Then again, I guess most Dyrus were otherworldly to us.

Krysanthe though… There was always something else about her, something others seemed to overlook. Hidden behind intelligent and dismissive eyes - if you spent long enough looking - was a sense of boundless sentimentality.

— Tribute to the Lost

Like most Vitehra, Krysanthe's stature and figure is similar to that of a Materian, though there are of course the obvious differences that make Vitehra easy to distinguish from Materians.

At a glance you can see the intricate weaving of veins, arteries, and nerves beneath the surface. Prominent in their appearance, to the point where one might mistake them having been drawn on with various coloured inks.

Around her forearms and lower legs appear to be thin chains, wrapping around the limbs. At first they may seem loose, like some form of accessory, yet upon closer inspection you will find that these ‘chains’ are fused into the skin. Although they outwardly look metallic and silvery, they are in fact an extension of Vitehra flesh. This wrapping around the lower legs is actually uncommon among Krysanthe’s kind and is typically a sign of higher magical potential.

Her irises are the exact same silver colour as the chains around her forearms, whilst her pupil is a slightly lighter shade. The sclera, as with all Vitehra, is a dark, twilight blue with hundreds of miniscule white dots interspersed across the surface.

Her hair is long and wavy. The majority of it is a deep maroon colour, with a few patches of silver strands (particularly on the right side of her head).

Markings

Around each of her fingers are two thin, coloured tattoos. They sit between the knuckles and the first joint on each finger and resemble plain bands or rings.

The first band (closest to the knuckle) is half cerulean , half crimson in colour. It represents the balance of positive and negative magic.

The second band (furthest from the knuckle) is solid gold , intended to represent the soul. Since the Coalescence, Krysanthe has re-coloured the gold band on the index and ring fingers of both hands to a solid black, as a reminder of the damage done by the Coalescence. Damage that Krysanthe tends to undo, no matter the cost to herself.

Scars
Spoiler Warning

For most of her life, Krysanthe has been quite lucky to avoid any permanent damage to her outward appearance. Though the past century has seen her roped into conflict.

Of her three major scars, two were caused by getting caught in fights with Warriors of the Rift. One of these is a gash along her upper right arm. The other is gash along her left thigh. Neither are particularly gruesome, nor do they cause her any lasting pain, but they have left quite large marks.

The third scar is a magically burn around her right eye. This was given to her by Cassia, the Saint of Artistry after a heated argument surrounding how to deal with the Rift. Cassia was quick to resort to violence, ever eager to defend the continued existence of the Rift, and Krysanthe was forced to flee before the situation devolved further.

Spoiler Warning The First of Many Failures

Unbeknownst to most, before Krysanthe experimented on those who would eventually become her ‘Saints’, she performed the highly volatile procedure on herself. Such is the nature of Krysanthe’s scientific curiosity. She wanted to be sure that the procedure would work before trying it on another.

And work it did, in the sense that she lived through it. She of course saw the procedure as a failure, since her soul was still imbalanced, and the fact that she now walks the world as an undying creature is something she considers to be a curse.

Krysanthe would go on to tweak the stabilisation procedure before testing it on her Saints. Still, she would be unable to force the correct results, and so her Saints would end up exactly as she had: trapped in a cycle of death and undeath.
