The rise and lineage of the Eviers

For eras the mountains and hills have mostly belonged to the Dwarves. In the year 2600, one man put an end to that: Willem Evier. Full of strength and determination the Evier family is known for their refusal to back down and even more for their pride and persistence. While it is not truly their house words, it is often said by Eviers “Better a loyal bastard than a cowardly prince.”   A rich and ambitious young man, Willem was placed in charge of the efforts to clear the Krag’nak Range of goblins and beasts within its mining operations. He offered a price for goblin heads and paid several dwarven scouting parties looking for a few golden coins. When a mine was cleared, he took over it and managed the business, quickly turning a profit on rare minerals and gems. Five years after he’d cleared the nearest mountains. He was so sucessful in this venture that he soon amassed more resources and money than the lord at the time: a dwarf named Ugratum Underbrow. He undersold the lord until the land itself nearly went bankrupt. He agreed to rescue the Range from its debts, but he would need to be granted the lordship.   Three long years of arguing and debating took place while the Range withered, rescued by the efforts of King Yusif. Finally a demand was made by man of the dwarves, and to the astounding cheer of the nearby clans, Willem was given the lordship. Many celebrated that, seeing only the man who had propped them up and given them back the mountain and resources. It wasn’t until ages later they would understand his selfish intent for what it was.   Nevertheless, his greed did bring growth and expansion to Krag’nak Range and to this day his promise of two golden lions per goblin head holds true in the kingdom. He married Daria the Bold and had two boys: Lucian and Peter, who would later be known as Peter the Odd.   Lucian took power in 2644. Raised in comfort and the knowledge of his family’s legacy, Lucian was raised sure that he would expand his family, and is most well-known for having down so by marrying his daughter to Lord Theo of House Riverwood, making them both the only two major houses to have an interhouse marriage on such a scale.   He was often thought of as a cold and unapproachable man, and as such punished those who crossed him harshly. However, he always took care of his family members, with the slight exception of his brother, whom he often argued with over the question of his elven wife.   After Lucian's death in 2692, Lord Aries inherited his lordship at age 49. Aries is a man fairly set in his ways and was known to be just as hard and calculative as his father. While he was not known to be cruel to her, there are several rumors speculating about the fact that his wife, Liza gave him four children, all sons: Othmar, Jarod, Jaxson and Samwise.   Nevertheless between the mines and the marriage of his sister to House Riverwood, House Evier has grown to be by far one of the richest within Amicis.
