Personal history
As one of the many daughters of the high priest (who can have as many wives as he wishes to) she was taught to survive the false privileges that surrounded her. In fact her father had the power to give away her daughters and sons if he wished to, and the priests daughters were usually sold to brothels even at a young age.
As she grew up she saw her sisters being taken away from her house. Her father did not see her daughters as his progeny, but rather as a divine gift, as his property. So he paid debts with his daughters, sometimes selling them, other times calling his friends or creditors to a party were his daughters would dance, often naked for the guest's entertainment.
Mesìlla was shown like a trophy, being the most beautiful of her sisters, to these "particular friends" who visited the temple on those evenings, and she heard them talking about prices and coin.
One morning she ran off the temple while her father was preaching, she run thinking about those old men and about her lost sisters, she run and cried.
When she stopped to clear her eyes she found herself near the royal gardens and, without thinking about it, she sneaked inside to wonder between those majestic flower beds and trees coming from every corner of the realm until she saw a boy slightly older than her intent in painting a red flower.
To prank the boy, to play, she sneaked behind the flower he was painting to emerge from behind it.
The young man was taken by surprise and fell on his back shocked.
After a few moments of shock they both laughed. That would be the beginning of a relationship that would change the realm.
The boy would reveal only after some months his identity as prince Sermides, but they would keep meeting.
She felt a weird magnetic attraction to him, when she looked at him she could feel his feelings, think his thoughts and observe how they didn't translate in his actions. She could feel his anger from his gentle ways, his ambition trough his dreamy eyes, his insecurities by his timid glaze.
In a few months they had become as intimate as two seeds inside the same apple, they met everyday and talked and talked, sometimes without saying a single word. She learned of his father, of how blind he was to ignore the potential of his prodigious son.
They grew together in those years so important in the building of an adult, strengthening each other first in the soul and then, in the body.
When she reached the 15th year of her life, her father was determined to find her a good match, but she fiercely refused to be exchanged for money to another priest. Her father threatened to sell her away if she didn't obey him. When she dared insult him, he hit her in the stomach sending her to the ground and then kicked her again in the belly. Her father interrogated her on who she was seeing, and when she finally revealed his friend's identity the priest laughed loudly.
"How kind of the gods to tie my blood with the royal family. Then go, whore, seduce the prince while I prepare to convince his father"That night she dragged herself to the same gardens where, incredibly, Sermides was already waiting for her, without having planned the meeting. She cried in his arms for hours, letting go of the pain and fear she had inside her, and he consoled her as she had always done with his much less material problems. So, in a natural way, the two friends that night trespassed the last barrier, the physical one, and joined their bodies and soul. Now they had both changed, he was stronger and more confident, and she felt safe and complete, and where once fear had grown in her hearth, now a deeper and more rooted emotion had emerged: hatred. When Sermides convinced his father to allow the marriage everyone was happy: the lovers, the court, her father... Mesìlla started thinking differently as she was transported into the palace, both her and her to-be husband had begun to believe that their encounter and her powers must have been a divine intervention, a gift, a sign of their right to rule. They didn't have to act accordingly to other's opinion, they could share their chamber before marriage, they could be seen together wherever they wished for it was the god's will. Seven drops. Seven drops was all that it took to bring High Lord Alenno down to the ground, desperately gasping for air, but his lungs were filling with his own blood, and the struggle would have soon been over. Now she was the Lady of the Realm, free from everyone, mistress of all. But her lover was still the same dreamy boy she had met in the gardens inside, and all he needed was a little encouragement. He needed no adviser but his mistress, and she knew the only way such a scandalous couple could survive inside the royal palace : Murder and intimidation. First on the list were all the witnesses of High Lord Alenno's death who could raise support against them, they all needed to die, then there was her father. She had him brought in front of her palace in the middle of the night only to look at him one last time through the windows. The next morning he was found gutted in his bed. She was not done, his father needed to be murdered, but he was not the only one in the city. Her husband decreed that all the rights of the priest regarding human properties were rescinded, ending the priest's harem tradition. With drops of poison and sweet words Mesìlla has reigned beside his beloved husband, pulling the strings and finding her freedom at the other end of the chain.
