Gaervar
Gaervar is an ancient language believed to have been given to humans as a gift from the god of knowledge Seladra. It is commonly used in prayers and rituals but is not widely spoken as a means of communication. Gaervar is also used as a means of channelling magical energy to form spells.
Writing System
The consonants are represented as larger runes than the vowels. When written, the vowels are placed on top of the consonant runes and the block is read top to bottom. The vowels all share a horizontal or slightly diagonal line running paralell to the direction the word is being read. If there are multiple vowels adjacent to each other then one will be written on the top of the previous consonant and the secons will be written on the bottom of the next.
Geographical Distribution
Gaervar is spoken throughout Órlekanú. It is mostly spoken in Gaenel and Erala Rúa where it originated. In Dagdír and Kíathandí, only the wealthy and well educated can speak it fluently. It is know by those who are religious as it is used in prayers but it is insufficient for everyday communication.
