Humans and dragons were created as one mind and body in the beginning, something similar to the Kymaeskeg but much more powerful. Fearing their power Thaev gave Fautól and Dalavú the task of splitting these beings as punishment as they had tried to wage war against the gods and take control of the heavens.
Fautól decided to take the intellectual capabilities of the beings and gave them a body in his own image. This half became the people of the world. The could farm the land and create order out of chaos. They formed their own societies over time and learned all they could about their world.
Seladra gave the people language and writing, Kúthad and Naestha allowed them to hunt and farm and Ólundae blessed some of them with magic. Pras taught them morality and helped shape them into intellegent beings.

Naming Traditions

The woman doesn't take the husband's name as her own family name in a wedding. Instead, his name becomes her middle name. Their children do take the father's name. If one of the families in a wedding has significantly more power or wealth then whoever has les power will typically take the other's name. For example, if a lord marries a princess, he will take her name.
