Narzym Province

Province of The Iron Empire
Stones crack and knees bend, but iron triumphs in the end!
Emerged out of the Burgoth people long ago and eventually absorbed the smaller province to the south.    Narzym Province is strong, but surrounded on all sides by potential enemies, including their hated foes, the Stone Kings of Vercinget

Structure

As a subject province of The Iron Empire, Narzym is ultimately ruled by the supreme will of Uzhul the Destroyer, God Emperor of Anacra, and governed by the military dictator called an Archon. The Archon holds executive and military power and may order the death of any non-warrior they see fit, but they are subject to the laws of the Amanu, a council of twelve fiends appointed by Uzhul to detail and order the implementation of Uzhul's laws. These include the organization of armies, the raising of funds and taxes, the manner in which settlements and fortifications shall be constructed, and more. While the Archon may decide what to do, the Amanu determine how things are done.   The Archon is empowered to appoint Prelates to enforce and dictate the law within their territory, Legates to command individual armies or units, Inquisitors to weed out enemy spies and dissidents, and other advisors and councilors to fulfill administrative or bureacratic functions.   In Narzym, the Prelate of Rujyr holds an important, if ceremonial, role as the last remnant of the former government of Rujyr province.

Culture

Narzym largely consists of the Burgoth culture filtered through centuries of Infernal rule. The ancient concept of Feud still holds a great deal of sway, but twisted from the original solemn ceremony to a more cruel "Suffer no slight" attitude. However, Uzhul teaches that it's more important to win than to be honorable. Feud is important to the Warrior class, but the Warlord class sees it as yet another tool.

Public Agenda

To subjugate the gods of chaos and their servants, replacing their degenerate abandon with the civilizing force of Uzhul.   More specifically, to conquer Vercinget, in accordance with the Ancient Feud, and to be the most premminent among the provinces of the Iron Empire.

Assets

Rich iron in the northern mountains of Narzym fuel their war efforts. The wide open fields and plains make for excellent agriculture, particularly wheat, sheep and horses.

History

Grand Archon Narzym was an aspiring Burgoth leader at feud with his neighbors. The Burgoth tradition of Feud demands temperance, but Narzym coveted his neighbors' land. Uzhul the Destroyer came to Narzym and promised him victory over his enemies and their families for all time. Narzym led a group of diabolical assassins, slit the throats of his political enemies in the night, imprisoned the survivors, and seized control of his people.   Narzym took the feuds of his defeated enemies and made them his own, demanding absolute loyalty or obliteration from the enemies of his enemies. Some embraced him gladly, seeing in Narzym and his powerful armies an opportunity for advancement and glory. Others capitulated out of fear. Still others refused and fought, fled, or died.    As he marched ever closer to the Seolach, Narzym eventually met his fate against the combined might of the newly arisen Stone Kings of Vercinget, who built towers and walls to hold him back. The battle lines established in those founding days remain largely unchanged. Narzym died thanks to his obsession with Vercinget, and all subsequent Archons have walked a careful line since then -- should they succeed where he failed, or heed his story as a warning against obsession?   In the 6700s Narzym Province came into conflict with Rujyr Province to the South, and through continous pressure and the presence of a weak archon, absorbed their lands. The region south of The Gap is still known as Rujyr, with its great capital city of Romar, and the current Archon -- Archon Agrippa -- actually arose from Rujyr, but for all intents and purposes Rujyr is now a sub-territory of Narzym.
