Vercinget
Between the Seolach and the Bulwark Mountains lie the fields and forests that once belonged to the Stone Kings of Vercinget. The shadows of giants loom over their lands, and the mysterious huldra of the Caonach Vale jealously watch their borders. Conquered by Magnen the Fierce long ago, the people of Vercinget now fight to reclaim their ancient heritage and cast off the yolk of Galadronian rule.

History
Prehistory
When the world was young, the lands east of the Seolach were home to the newly awakened peoples. Halflings emerged from the hills, humans awakened by the rivers, and gnomes sprang from the forests. Great beasts roamed the nights, and together the fledgling peoples hunted, fled, and learned. The Tower of Rain
Rumors spread around the campfires of a tower, rising at the heart of the plain, built of rain and surrounded by a strange and mournful song. All who heard its melody felt its call, and those who heeded it never returned. The people of the land raised warnings against it, and against the tall, floating figures who drifted about its base, tending to the Tower of Rain. Then a piece of the sky fell to earth, and shattered the Tower of Rain, and fire spread and scoured the land all around it. At the heart of the fire was a great smouldering rock, that glowed red with heat and hissed whenever the rain fell upon it, for generation upon generation. In ages to come, this would be known as Dotain's Rock.Dance of the Seasons
As if awakened by the thunder of the falling rock, Giants came down from the hills. They raided the small folk, eating their flocks, eating their people, smashing their homes. Before them, the people of the plains fled back towards wood and water for protection. In their flight, they saw mighty houses floating on the clouds. Some of the giants took pity on the smallfolk and shared their knowledge, demanding obedience and servitude in return. Led by the dwarves, the humans, gnomes and halflings unlocked the secrets of stone and raised great walls against the giants. Many fell before the giants' wrath, but in time, the Stone houses rose up along the waters of the Seolach. Autumn WarsDeath of Erecura (6412)

Demography and Population
Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings, Half-Elves, hobgoblins
Territories
Vercinget controls territory from the Bulwark Mountains in the East to the Seolach in the West, from the Fomhor wood in the south to the Wild Crown in the North.
Military
Each lord of Vercinget is required to raise their own troops. Most of these consist of peasant levies, but some of the Stone Houses have trained professional armies.
Religion
Each village and castle keeps its own gods, but universally among the people of Vercinget is an emphasis on holy springs. Water is a symbol of protection from evil.
There is a sizable Ramian undercurrent to the land, thanks to the influence of Galadron, but most important is knowing the local spirits and placating them.
Land Spirits are tricksters and goblins; Water Spirits are guides and protectors.
Foreign Relations
Vercinget as it currently stands is an idea, an agreement between powerful nobles who hearken back to the time before Magnen the Fierce conquered the North. They defy Galadron and remain wary of Lyteri, who represents a potential competitor as much as an enemy mine.
The Huldra of Seolach and Fomhor are ancient strangers, lurking in the forests at the edge of mortal lands.
In the north, the Wildling Clans don't care what banner the castles and strongholds fly; they remain enemies.
Agriculture & Industry
Barley, apples, peas, chickens & pigs are the primary food crops.
Flax and wool grow quite nicely here.
The rivers are filled with salmon, eels and other fish.
Trade & Transport
Beer, cider, and textiles are the primary trade products of Borgondhi. Livestock flourish in the plains and valleys.
Ancient roads, built during the Demonic Imperium, mark trade routes but are in poor repair. Most trade flourishes along the shores and rivers, and inland trade tends to be smaller in scope.
Education
Nobles are educated by tutors, scholars, and clerics. Larger cities may host academies for those that can afford the prices, but most education is one-on-one as knowledge is passed on via scroll. Tomes are rare.
Infrastructure
Vercinget is known for its stone craft. The most important structures are always built of stone, and though peasant hovels must by necessity be built of wood or clay, almost every settlement has one or two stone buildings.
The largest cities are protected by the famous stone walls and towers, and Vercinget has some of the most accomplished castle builders and architects.

Each landed lord holds the law in their hands, in accordance with the ancient customs handed down from Magnen the Fierce, but over time the Stone Houses are forming their own laws to bind all the lands of Vercinget.
Judicial Body
Again, every knight is an arbiter of the law, every baron a judge, but the Stone Houses have the final say. If only they ever had the same thing to say.
