Starlyft, Inc

Starlyft Inc. are an small, up-and-coming cargo company which federates a dozen of contracted free-merchant vessels and twice as many freelancers to move cargo across Tau Elpis. Behind the scenes, they are known as salvagers, scavengers and tech brokers. The Coalition company has holdings across all inner worlds, as well as in many stations beyond the Hodeth Belt. They operate out of the Embassy Ark. The CEO of Starlyft is eccentric Coalition businessman Eguko Trak.   Beyond the frontend, Starlyft is a loose and nebulous network of informants, agents and semi-independent contractors. They provide transportation and wreck clean-up services, and also maintain a "coast guard", Starlyft Rescue Solutions, which goes out of its way to save flagging ships - for a price, or a stake in the wreckage. Their rescue operations often come into conflict with the racers-couriers at Express Courier Services who only charge a nominal fee, and do not charge the intended recipient a fee for "asset recovery".   Despite their uncanny internal organization and externally aggressive trading practices, Starlyft remain a popular company. They provide freight shipping (which, in Starlyft's hololedgers, makes up the bulk of their business) and sell scrap at a discount.   On the surface, its upper management often changes and the official hierarchy remains vague. Contractors are often "let go" as to sever any official ties and distance the management from a job gone wrong. There are many allegations against Starlyft, notably that they trade in forbidden technology or that their clean-up services demand payment aggressively. They are also rumoured to be a major player in the colonial black market. The wildest accusations assert that Starlyft puts out hits on ships with interesting cargo (using mercenary groups or evenVi's Fixmen ) before racing to rescue them or claim the wreckage. It's hard to prove any of these claims - yet at the same time, Starlyft's ships or contractors do have a habit of showing up in convenient places...
