Session 7 Report

General Summary

The sarcophagus hummed with power, and the man -- the god -- inside seemed unconscious.   Hiram was the first to touch the sarcophagus, and he got a point of psychic damage for his efforts, overwhelmed in the wash of emotions that he felt: joy and pain and fear and loneliness. Alexandria was next, and though she felt the emotions first, she was then transported to a landscape of wild, tall mountains and sweet-smelling snow, textured wrong, with a pastel-colored fortress behind her. She spoke to Zed, who told her about his plan: the loophole. He is imprisoned in the sarcophagus. But no one said the sarcophagus has to be here. And no one said the sarcophagus has to be this size.   Elni next, as Zed taught her parts of a ritual to reduce the sarcophagus's size, and dropped hints of history like it was nothing. The fortress? He made it like this; he changed it into candy. (Rocani mountain. Rock Candy Mountain?)   One by one, the others spoke with the god they had found. Zerh said that he believed wild things should never be imprisoned and told Zed that it wasn't his fault, and Zedaat stopped and laughed and wept. And when Zerh asked why Zed was the last god, Zed said it was a long story, and said that there were things he couldn't remember right anymore. Val climbed halfway onto Zed's lap in the form of a puppy. Dan asked Zed to make out, which Zed deflected -- maybe another time -- but did try to goad him into a sugar-snowball fight.   One by one they agreed to help with the ritual.   They then did the ritual, reducing the coffin to the size of a pendant on a necklace's chain, which Alex held, for now.   Elni spoke with Zed one last time, asking about the Wizard Claybryne's sanctum. Zed told her that it was in the Astral Sea, and only one of the entrances was ever in this fortress. He also told her one of the entrances to the Feywild used to be very near here, under Mt. Rocani.   The group made sure to go over the chamber with a fine-tooth comb and they located a strange break in the pattern of the stones, which turned out to be a hidden staircase, that ascended several turns before stopping abruptly. The top of it had been sealed over with stone, but an Enlarge/Reduce spell on Alex assisted in busting that open, with everyone climbing out into... a circular storage chamber? A storage chamber with modern crates, not ancient ones.   Promptly, their tracking bracelets started turning red, indicating that they were in a forbidden area of the prison. It turned out, in fact, that they were in the bottom chamber of the Warden's Tower.   With a little quick-talking by Dan and no escalation to violence, the team were taken into custody. They hid a few items in the crates below, and the rest went into their inmate property. The guards took them into isolation cells, and the session ended there.
