Shathoggua the Repenter

"He Who Watches"

Also known as Iartu the Salvationer, Yahvoth the Sentry, Kthoshuan the Deliverancer, and Anaxavisha of the Deep, Shathoggua is usually depicted as a gargantuan sphere covered in eyes and tentacles, with a cloud of eyes floating around it.   While a powerful Great Old One itself, Shathoggua works to keep other Old Ones from tearing into our reality. It believes that consuming such a stable reality would only poison and weaken the Old Ones in the long run. It works to keep the chaos and evil of the Far Realms pure and unpolluted by the material plane.   Shathoggua often recruits mortals to devote their lives to maintaining the barriers between the two realms. These warlocks also frequently hunt down and destroy those aberrations that make it through to the mortal world.   In the kingdom of Haleska there are worshippers of Shathoggua who see it as a benevolent protector, shielding the mortal world from the horrors of the Far Realms. There is even a small temple of Shathoggua in the Haleskan capital of Theryn. Warlocks and other devotees of Shathoggua-as-protector often work with The Grey, who follow the centuries-old teachings of Ezdra the Seer. Among other things, Ezdra taught that a giant space monster was coming to eat the planet (some believe Ezdra himself made a pact with Shathoggua). They also sometimes have connections with the Kindred underground, a planetary network of agents dedicated to protecting Ancathra from otherworldy threats.
