Taltossa, Stranger to All

God of murder, assassins, poison, shadows, stealth and night.

In the myths and stories, Taltossa is powerful in his own right, but also often subservient to Ghaulwira.   No one openly worships Taltossa. In most societies, those who do are quickly made pariahs and exiled or summarily executed. No sane community allows that kind of power to manifest. Those few who do pray to him are usually found in a secret underground network called the Apostles of Ghaulwira  Clerics of the god of murder, death, and assassins can be found. The few small temples that exist are allowed to operate only under specific circumstances and/or in distant locations. In either case, they are watched constantly.   Taltossa seems to have two distinct natures: one as a god of murder, and a second as a god of darkness. As an incarnation of death, murder, assassins and poison he seems to have one personality. As god of shadows, stealth, and night he seem to manifest a completely different personality. Some theologians speculate that at one time Taltossa was two gods whose worship merged, subsuming the god of murder and the god of darkness into one being. Other scholars believe that Taltossa has always been a dual god, a divinity with two aspects from the beginning of time. They point out that night, for instance, can be either peaceful or deadly.    As god of death and murder, Taltossa is also the god of executions and executioners. Public executions are one of the few times Taltossa is invoked in civilized places. Another are the underground followers of Taltossa, God of Thieves. The Unseen tend to be careful to not let word get out about the existence of any Taltossan clerics.
