Wood Elves
Wood elves have unfortunately been given the monicker "low" elves by other elven ethnicities for their willingness to mingle with other species. Nearly ever half-elf has a wood elf parent. They have a lower affinity for magic, but have an almost magical ability to bond with animals and other creatures on a deep level that transcends simple emotion.
The easiest way to tell a wood elf from other elves is their ears. Wood elf ears are typically high on the head, and have high pointed tips (see Livianna Sentrissa for an example of typical wood elf ears.) Their eyes are usually dark, coming in shades of green, brown, and red.
Naming Traditions
Feminine names
Wood elf names are poetic in nature, but are usually short: only a few words or a single phrase. Feminine names usually describe an animal or a plant in Elvish. They usually translate to things like "the rabbit running quickly," or "a willow tree bending."
Masculine names
Masculine names usually describe natural forces or structures. They can translate to "the cave that howls," or "the sun shining strong."
Family names
Although their first names are generally kept in Elvish, wood elves usually translate their last names into the common tongue of wherever they live. Their family names are a combination of descriptive words or nouns that supposedly describe the origin of the family.
Other names
Wood elves have "child names" that a young elf keeps until they declare adulthood, usually in the beginning of their first century. These are usually short, single- or double-syllable words with simple meanings, or just pleasing sounds.
