Utility

Different golems are used for different roles, but the majority of them are used for either manual labor or as sentinels.

Manufacturing

It is not cheap to create a golem, their bodies must be made with special materials, and a considerable amount of magic is required. Hidden within their bodies is a special 'core' that contains info such as the golem's owner, known commands, etc.

Access & Availability

When the magic levels began to increase golem creation boomed and there was very little oversight in their creation. Many kingdoms and nations began to fear their use against the ruling class, so they began to heavily regulate their creation and use.
The cost to build and maintain a golem can very widely depending on what it was made from and how big it is, but generally they are expensive.

Complexity

Considered to be the most loyal of servents, golems don't need to eat sleep. or breathe, and will follow their owners instructions to the best of their abilities. They can only follow relatively simple orders but will complete those orders not matter what, even if their owner is not there to watch it.
