Raskir Jornell
The late Raskir Jornell is a well known figure throughout Selthame. and is even regarded as one of the Kingdom of Acarius' finest contributors to science and education.
Born in 7a 603, the Gnomelingbegan life as the son of a "Utility Alchemist" - someone who knew to combine raw materials into potent blends for the construction of buildings. His father was employed by the Kingdom to oversee the production of various stone and metal-based building pieces, the same items that would be used in the expansion of Selthame.
Idolizing his father's scientific mind, Raskir took it upon himself to begin observing and hypothesizing about all that was around him. The sun and other celestial bodies, various fauna and flora, the shifting of the tides, all were fair game in Raskir's study. Eventually drawing the attention of the crown by the age of fifty-six, Raskir was granted a then large sum to bring hirelings with him on his many expeditions. The result saw Raskir become something of a teacher, publishing various scientific journals and theories - most of which would be proven true through testing over the ages - and eventually Raskir pushed for a formal education center. As such, in 7a 712, the Selthame Academy of Natural Sciences was founded.
