The R.H. Jornell Academy of Natural Sciences

Founded by the great scholar Raskir Jornell, and eventually granted his name upon his death in 7a 875, the Academy serves as the Kingdom of Acarius' primary educator in all things natural. Graduates of the Academy often find themselves flooded with employment offers from both the crown and the Cartographer's Guild, as well as being able to find short-term contracts within various settlements across Acarius.
Presently, the school is split into multiple wings that then further divide into specialized categories; such as the "Study of Worldly Flora" then leading to "Agricultural Sciences". Each wing is represented by one department head who oversees the operations of their field, and discusses budgets with the other department heads.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of the academy is enlightenment and discovery, with some students choosing to simply learn what is already known while others are given the environment and tools necessary to discover on their own. Since it's founding, the Academy has seen tens of thousands of applicants, and thousands of graduates.

Alterations

In 7a 875 the front courtyard was remodeled to feature a large central fountain, showcasing a statue of the recently departed Raskir Jornell.
In 7a 1027 a mighty storm collapsed the Astronomical Observatory, forcing a remote observation structure (the ROS) to be constructed northwest of Selthame.
In 7a 1146 the Astronomical Observatory was fully restored and retrofitted, expanding the Astronomy Department greatly.

Architecture

The composite marble and silver walls of the Academy focus soft light throughout it's great halls, with domed brass roofs gleaming elegantly in the sun.
