The Battle of Bay's End
The Conflict
Prelude
Having established a capital in Acaron , King Danrek Acarius pushed from east to west to establish his kingdom's borders - finding that the Orcs of the Worldpire Mountains had similar intentions, and had begun raiding supply convoys that passed near the mountains. The King pushed forth with a contingent of Dwarves, all foaming at the mouth at the thought of discovering a mountain home for their people.
Deployment
Two-hundred-thirty men; Human, Elf, Dwarf, and even Half-Orc marched in unison from Acaron to what would soon be Orivos to follow the banner of their king in his conquests. They waited until the dawn of the 22nd before making their charge across the river to face their enemy - relying on the Orc's aversion to sunlight to weaken their forces.
Battlefield
The battlefield would be the frozen feet of the mountains, between two rivers flowing into Sanctuary Bay, a relatively flat battlefield for the morning that would eventually give way to multiple routes through the mountains.
Conditions
The calm day was ended with cold wind pushing across the bay, slamming into the base of the mountains. The snow and sleet that the winds pushed up slowed the Orc's retreats, and forced them into a position to be cut down from the rear.
Outcome
The Orcs, routed back into their mountains, were continually pushed back by Kingdom rangers.
Aftermath
The land was gifted, still under official rule of The Kingdom of Acarius , to Baranell Strongarm by Danrek Acarius . The village of Orivos would be founded two years later, on the anniversary of the battle.
Historical Significance
Legacy
The battle is continually celebrated by the Dwarves in Orivos each year on it's anniversary. The celebrations are genuinely Dwarven in nature, with feasts and drinking carrying on throughout the nights, however priests and priestesses still hold services to honor the fallen.
