Orivos

Founded in 7a 531, Orivos was designed to be The Kingdom of Acarius 's mining stronghold and gateway into the Worldspire Mountains . Orivos has remained quite small since it's founding, thanks in part to it's remote location as well as in part to it's laborious industry.

Demographics

The majority of the population of Orivos are, of course, Dwarves. However in recent years quite a few other races have appeared in an attempt to spearhead expeditions across the Worldspire Mountains , hoping to eventually push beyond them to discover what may lay further west.

Government

Orivos, upon it's founding, was a gift for a good friend of the First Great King - Baranell Strongarm The dwarf had proved to be an invaluable asset in The Battle of Bay's End , where the Kingdom managed to push the Orcish hordes back into the mountains and away from the western shores of Sanctuary Bay . Baranell's grandson, Hofths, now serves as the head of the Dwarven family that rules over Orivos.

Defences

The defenses of Orivos are always the topic of debate, with the Dwarves claiming that their mountain fortress is more than enough to protect her people, while those still living in the Outer City (the original city proper of Orivos) have raised many concerns about having to travel to the citadel for defense during an assault.

Industry & Trade

Orivos trades with both Acaron  and Halgen , with regular shipments sent out to each. In return, Halgen  offers reduced rates on their lumber, and Acaron  gives a not-insubstantial kickback on the villages taxes each year.

Infrastructure

Roads, a small port, and some minor farms are the only truly visible infrastructure in Orivos - however moving toward the mountains reveals that the town has expanded quite deeply into the mountainside, where a small citadel has been established featuring massive blast furnaces and thousands of mineshafts.

Guilds and Factions

The Deep Lords are what the ruling Dwarven families are known as, and they are Orivos' primary faction. With the rise of the exploration "industry", a chapter of the Cartographer's Guild have also arrived in Orivos - though they hardly deal with the village itself beyond simple tax paying and purchasing supplies for their employees.
