The Veiled Expanse
The southern region of the continent of Enokk just north of the ocean is a wild and dangerous place, filled with monsters so terrible they would be considered a threat to any country it came upon anywhere else, yet in this region, they are not all that uncommon.
It is a place filled with magical potency and ancient ruins, yet there are almost no elari or other deities with wide-spanning dominions.
This is quite simply because The Veiled Expanse is under the influnece of The Veiled Enigma, the god of stagnation, forgetfulness and disbelief. Wide-spanning faiths will falter, divine energies will wither and religious practices be forgotten across the vast distances of the region at a rate unseen anywhere else. A Shrouded Hierophant, the highest rank of angels of The Veiled Enigma is at the center of the region, giving off an aura of disbelief and forgetfullness.
While it is true there is a number of naadia (or kami as they are sometimes referred to as), that function as local deities, these are local phenonama, and fit in with the culture that have arisen here among the Veilborns; those born into hostile land dependent on the mercy of the strong or the secrecy of irrelevance.
It is a region where the Southern Guardians are present, where mortals only really have two choices: exist in obscurity and hope no monster comes upon you, or live near a Guardian, perform the rites that empower them, and pray it is enough.

I love the idea of a place causing forgetfulness. The impact on civilization caused by loss of tradition is an intriguing thought, as is how it would effect individuals. Do some wander to the region for the purpose of forgetting, I wonder? Anyway you've an interesting concept for sure!
