At the height of its prosperity, the gateway to the Wilderlands erupts in gouts of flame that melts stone and turns people to ash.
Sages still argue over the cause of The Breakwater's destruction. Magic seems to be a part of it, but the area is now shrouded in darkness and no sane person willingly travels through the area.
