Church of the Eternal Court

The Church of the Eternal Court is a loose alliance of faith-based organizations that worship the mainstream gods of the Merchant Sea. Because these competing faiths rarely get along, there is no defined structure and meetings of the Church only occur under the most dire of circumstances. As such, it has also become a simple catch-all term to describe the dozens of smaller faiths that connect through the same mythology.
The Eternal Court are considered to be the most powerful beings in the universe, able to make enormous decisions and weigh punishments for other gods who overstep their positions, causing an imbalance.

However, the Church supports congregations well beyond that of the High Seven of the Court and acknowledges the existence of the whole of Aornic mythology. Other popular sects include those that worship Eiludi, The Knotted Souls, Hailla, The Warm Fire, Jimara, The Branching Lineage and Kemehea, The Eversprout.
There are many gods that remain taboo and though they may have small (sometimes even sizable) cults dedicated to them, they are not acknowledged by the Church as legitimate. These gods are still considered fundamental aspects of the universe, but their worship is actively discouraged or even punished by the Church, as well as other organizations. The most egregious of these offenders are: Tattarus, The Eyes in the Dark, Baeliel, The Tempting Lie, Mox, The Eruption, Venali, The Truth, Qanar, The Occluded Face, Rach, The Bloody Ground, Xashand, The Thirsting Horde and perhaps most of all, Nezer Damos, The Chasm.
The primary responsibility of the Church of the Eternal Court is the publishing and translation of Echoes and Origins: A Brief History of the Multiverse, the base document upon which the rest of the mythology is founded. It has been several centuries since a new translation has been required.
